Purnima Vrat

पूर्णिमा व्रत

Purnima Vrat occurs on the full moon of every month. On this day, prayers are offered to Shree Satya Narayan Ji. Devotees should wake before sunrise and after bathing, pray to Shree Satya Narayan Ji that they will fast until evening prayers are complete and request blessings for keeping the fast.

Shree Satya Narayan Vrat Katha should be performed by a priest in the evening as completion of the Purnima Vrat.

On the blessed occasion of Purnima, when the moon shines in its पूर्ण (full) glory, we are invited to immerse ourselves in divine light, purity, and devotion. This sacred day is a beautiful reminder to pause, reflect, and reconnect with the higher energies that guide and protect us.

As devotees, observing the Purnima Vrat with श्रद्धा (faith) and sincerity opens the path to peace, prosperity, and spiritual upliftment. The full moon radiates positive energy, making this an especially powerful time for prayer, gratitude, and inner cleansing.

We begin the day with purity of body and mind—waking early, taking a स्नान (holy bath), and wearing clean, simple attire. With a heartfelt sankalp (intention), we dedicate the day to spiritual discipline and devotion.

Fasting may be observed according to one’s ability—whether through complete fasting, फलाहार (fruits and milk), or a simple satvik meal. What matters most is the sincerity of our devotion.

Throughout the day, we engage in prayer, chanting, and remembrance of the divine. Offering tulsi leaves, fruits, and simple prasad with love enhances the spiritual significance of the vrat.

As the full moon rises, we gather in reverence to offer arghya (water) and prayers, expressing gratitude for the light that nourishes both the world and our inner being. Lighting a diya and meditating under the moonlight deepens our connection with divine energies.

It is after this sacred moment that devotees gently conclude their fast, carrying forward the शांत (peaceful) and positive vibrations of the day.
